Movie Poster 2: 1408

The picture is very eye catching because it is shaped like a key and also the colours that are used in the picture stand out. Using a white back ground makes the picture a lot clearer. The main colour that can be seen is red, red standing for danger and blood. This is a typical convention for horror films. In the red floor we can see the girl reflection so this could be blood coming from the room. With the red splatters round the key this could also hint to violence. The walls of the corridor and little lamp show that it is a hotel and from the decoration looks like an old fashion but posh hotel.  The glow from the door could be a sci-fi effect or show of a danger from fire. Having a young child in a horror film is always uncomfortable for the audience because children are not seen as a sign of danger. The girl in this picture is very scary because you cannot see the expression on her face. This might be because she is already dead.

The actor’s names are at the top in black and red. This is so we notice it and this would be the first thing we would most likely look at as we look from the page down.  Their second names are larger than the first showing that people may recognised their second name better than their first. Also having actors names on the poster will bring the audience in as people like to watch films with their favourite actors in it.

This poster is in German, so this was obviously a big film and was successful in other countries. It says that is taking by one of Stephen Kings books. This is another way of bringing the audience in as he is a favourite famous writer and people who like his books would most likely want to the film. Also the colour of the writing links to the colours coming through the picture.

The title Room 1408 is written in fire coloured writing, showing danger. This could also be a sign of what happens later on in the film. Also the colour of the writing links to the colours coming through the picture.
